John B. Cummings

Before establishing Cummings Co., John Cummings practiced law at a large Wall Street firm and served as Director of Marketing for a division of Estee Lauder. His experiences in the for-profit arena gave him invaluable insights into the world of high net individuals and the application of sound business principles into major fundraising campaigns. He founded Cummings Co. with a commitment of bringing senior level and personalized professional counsel to a diverse group of nonprofits, both national and international.

John has lectured extensively on a variety of fund-raising topics both in the United States and Europe. (For example, as a guest lecturer several times on the topic of major gifts for the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) at its Institute, University of Wisconsin, Madison, and featured speaker on development at the annual World Federation of Therapeutic Communities in Athens, Greece). He has been quoted in several major U.S. publications, including the New York Times and Newsweek on fund-raising issues.  John’s commitment to his profession includes a term as chairman of the Standards and Practice Committee for the American Association of Fund-Raising Counsel (AAFRC).  Moreover, John served as a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee for Giving USA, the premier statistical resource for American philanthropy.

John and family live in Dallas.
